Hotel near Elephant and Castle

Here’s the fresh update from the chilly London streets – a small crossroads near Elephant and Castle tube, I was sitting next to the entrance to one of Southbank’s University branches. It was some hotel in front of me with a quite queerly-looking cafe on the ground floor. It wasn’t anything like a cold weather today, but after an hour of sketching I noticed my teeth chattering with cold… will take a hot thermos with me next time!

Gloomy Clapham neighbourhood

The sky yesterday was particularly low, as it can be in a typical winter day in London, so I decided to include a portion of this sky in the sketch as well. It gives otherwise quite lively city scape that unique feeling of hopelessness, which you be come so accustomed you almost pay no attention to. I was dreaming of capturing that feeling for weeks now.

Coronation Hall, Surbiton

Yesterday's Coronation Hall crowd in Surbiton was almost like any other Friday evening, but the decorations all around created a nice Christmas mood. While sketching, I noticed that they were even having fir-tree beads hanging from the lamps (and they're having very high ceilings in the place) - we were wondering how they did manage to climb so high.
