Sketches from St.Petersburg

Here's some sketches from my travels around St.Petersburg and Moscow. Will take several posts, I think. Here's the beginning:

Isaakievsky temple from a roof of a neigbouring building, a very quick sketch:

A woman selling corn on the street:

Church in Kolomna, a place in St.Petersburg. The point that I was sketching from is remarkable for the number of bridges you can see from it (although I wasn't doing a sketch of bridges). It's a kind of crossroad of channels and you see nine bridges from here.

A sketch of a table in a place called "Pub 9"

Three sketches from a place called "Tokyo cafe":

I scream for an ice-cream

There was a Young Lady of Russia, Who screamed so that no one could hush her; Her screams were extreme, No one heard such a scream, As was screamed by that Lady of Russia.

worldcup host

So Russia gets the 2018 World Cup. Just think: terrible communications, lousy food, bad hotels, awful service, ludicrous prices and an aggressive drinking culture – thank goodness England didn't win. // Simon Hoggart's week, The Guardian, Dec.5 2010
